A good old house can concentrate energy of goodness and light. Only kind memories remain in it, which settle in human memory for a long time. This also happened to Viktor. Fate had not spared the boy, but one beautiful day it rewarded him fully.
A Good Old House
Young Vitya lived in a village with his mother and grandmother. He never knew his father, and his grandfather passed away extremely early. Vitya didn’t really understand at first where Grandpa Misha had gone. But after a week, and then a month, he realized what was happening. The child understood that his grandmother had not sent the grandfather on a long journey. It was the old man’s last path.
But overall, Vitya had a decent life. His grandmother loved him deeply and tried in every way to help him develop. She took him to the district center for karate, taught him to play the piano, and bought him various sweets. The boy became even more attached to his grandma Nina than to his own mother. Vitya’s mother, Elvira, had him too early. Because of this, she didn’t really take part in raising him. She left Vitya with her mother saying, ‘You wanted me to keep him? Now you raise him.’ But the grandmother did not complain. Vitya was a ray of light and goodness for her. She put her whole soul into him. Only one day, her heart couldn’t bear it…
A Difficult Childhood
When Vitya found his grandmother in the middle of the room, he immediately ran to the neighbors. The adults called an ambulance and tried to help the woman on their own. But the medics who arrived could only confirm the absence of vital signs. Then, a real hysteria began for Vitya. He cried non-stop, and there was no one from his family nearby. His mother was in the city, and the child couldn’t calm down in the arms of neighbors. The doctors decided to take the child to the hospital.
Nobody was in a hurry to take Vitya from the medical institution. His mother didn’t even visit him, and the neighbors handled the grandmother’s funeral. The child waited, hoping that his blood relative would come to her senses and take him. But the miracle did not happen. Straight from the hospital, Vitya was sent to an orphanage. There he had to learn to live by completely new customs and rules. No more sweets, karate, or piano.
How did Vitya endure it? It’s hard to say. He tried to suppress his feelings for his beloved grandmother, who was no longer there. The boy understood that his mother had abandoned him. First to the grandmother, and then forever. The child became a young man and eventually realized. In this life, he could only rely on himself.
An Unexpected Encounter
After graduating from the orphanage, Vitya immediately decided to go to his father’s house. He knew that his mother was no longer alive, but was not surprised by this. Given the woman’s volatile character and her recklessness, this was to be expected. The young man did not know in what condition the dwelling was, but hoped that at least some roof remained over his head.
The house still stood as before. Vitya felt a sense of déjà vu, as if from around the corner his grandmother could appear, smiling and inviting him for pies and tea. The orphan deeply sighed and headed for the door. To his surprise, it was open. ‘Could someone have been here? Is the house now serving as a shelter for the homeless?’ Vitya did not like such thoughts.
The orphan went inside and looked around. ‘No, everything is in order inside,’ the young man thought. He decided to go up the stairs to the attic. There was another living room there. But on the way to the stairs, he saw a young girl descending from the attic. At first, she didn’t notice Vitya, then she got scared and screamed throughout the house. A Good Old House Deserves a Second Chance
Vitya was incredibly amused by such a reaction from the stranger. But then it turned out that the girl’s name was Polina and she was also an orphan. The local village manager was quite young and decided that the house belonged to no one. Therefore, he allowed the girl to occupy it and live as she pleased.
‘Don’t worry, I won’t drive you away,’ Vitya reassured the stranger, ‘we both know what it’s like. To have neither home nor family.’ Thus, the pair settled the housing issue and began to live together. Although the beginning of the relationship was a matter of time, as Vitya immediately understood that Polina was very kind and sweet. The good old house was renovated. Polina planted many beautiful flowers around it. And a few years later, the harmonious family had twins. Viktor only now realized how lucky he was that day. When his arrival frightened the beautiful stranger Polina.
