Grigory set up his wife and had her thrown into prison, taking all her money. But gathering all her strength, she prepared a surprise for him.

Margot did not take her eyes off the door. Finally, the day had come when she would get her revenge on her husband. Her eyes sparkled with a wicked gleam. How long she had waited for this moment!

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Margot realized that her time had come. For two whole years, she had waited for this moment, and now her heart was about to leap out of her chest.

On the bed lay her belongings, neatly stacked. Next to it stood a bag where everything had to be packed. A woman in uniform entered the room to escort her.

Margot quickly packed her things and hurriedly left the cell.

“She can’t wait to meet her lover,” the guard sneered, walking behind her.

Margot didn’t reply. She walked with her head held high, no longer paying attention to what was being said behind her. She had faced many trials, but now she was ready to take revenge on her offenders.

She looked ahead, but the events of three years ago flashed before her eyes.

Margot and Grisha were successful businesspeople. When they married, their business flourished. Success went to their heads and led to a breakdown in their family life. Margot knew about all her husband’s affairs, but for the sake of their successful business, she endured it all. It hurt her, but she still remembered her husband as he had been when they first met. They were simple people, in love with each other. But over the years, that love faded, replaced by habit.

Margot trusted her husband. She signed every document he handed her, without reading them. It turned out that this played against her. Her successful and happy life disappeared in a single day.

That day, she was accused of major fraud and embezzlement, and she was sent to prison. Her own husband set her up by providing fake documents. The trial didn’t last long. Her husband testified against her, and she wasn’t given a good lawyer. Most likely, her husband bribed the officials because the case was quickly dismissed, pinning all the blame on her. She didn’t even have time to understand what was happening. The shock of it all kept her in a state of stupor for a long time. When she was sentenced to five years, she finally came to her senses, but it was too late.

In prison, over the course of two years, she managed to change. She was no longer the frightened girl who couldn’t stand up for herself. She had developed strength within herself. For her good behavior, she was released early. Now she thirsted for revenge, and Grisha was the key figure to whom she would show her new self.

Margot thought about all this while her belongings were being handed over. The guard patted her on the shoulder.

“Good luck!”

When Margot was outside the prison gates, she couldn’t take a step. Fear gripped her once more. For two years, she had been planning her revenge, but now she feared whether she would be able to carry out what she so desperately wanted. She stood there for about five minutes, and then she saw a familiar figure approaching her. Her body immediately relaxed. Thank God, he was here! She ran towards him. He quickened his pace too. Within moments, they met, and the man embraced her.

“Margot, I can’t believe this moment has come!” he exclaimed, burying his face in her neck and nervously laughing. But he had been waiting for this moment just as much as she had.

It was Artem, her husband’s friend. Right after she was sent to prison, he started visiting her. He believed in her innocence and knew that Grisha wasn’t as innocent as he seemed. Another important factor was that Artem had long had feelings for Margot, but he had never expressed them. It was only a year after his visits that he confessed his feelings to her. By that time, Margot felt more than gratitude towards Artem. They fell in love. She was in prison, and he was free. Now, nothing could stop these lovers.

“I was afraid you wouldn’t come for me,” the woman whispered, and the man tightened his embrace.

“How could I leave you? I won’t let you go again!” he replied.

Margot inhaled his scent and sighed contentedly.

While she was in prison, she started learning interesting things with Artem’s help. Artem was a close friend of Grisha, and he knew some details about his fraudulent activities. It was Artem who told her that Grisha had orchestrated all of this because of his mistress, who wanted to claim a portion of the business that belonged to Margot. With her help, her husband had planned and executed his dirty dealings.

When Margot found out about this, she swore to take revenge, and Artem helped her in that. He often visited the house of Margot and Grisha, and her husband never suspected anything between them. He didn’t care about Margot’s well-being in prison, so he didn’t know about Artem’s visits.

After the trial, he divorced Margot, and he no longer cared about her fate.

“Let’s get out of here. I need a shower after these walls. I feel like I smell like that rotten prison scent,” Margot scrunched her nose.

Artem laughed:

“What are you talking about? You smell better than all the women in the world.” He kissed her on the forehead and loosened his arms, releasing her from his embrace. Margot laughed, enjoying the sound of her own laughter.

Now she was free, and her fate was in her hands. She could laugh whenever she wanted, without fearing the harsh words of the cruel guard. They held hands and walked toward the car parked nearby.

Margot dreamed of a hot shower and a cup of coffee. After a while, she was sitting in a chair at Artem’s house. Her hair was damp, and she wrapped herself in a fluffy robe, holding a cup of coffee in her hands. She took a sip with pleasure and then closed her eyes blissfully.

When the coffee was finished, she decisively placed the cup on the coffee table and said:

“Now I want you to show me those documents. I need to make sure everything went as we dreamed.”

Margot clenched her fists impatiently, while Artem looked at her intently. This woman had driven him crazy for so long. He had kept his feelings inside for years. His sister worked at Margot and Grisha’s company, so he often visited their house and even dropped by their workplace. He told everyone that he wanted to see his sister, but in reality, he needed Margot. He loved watching her in a business suit with documents in her hands. She gave him a thrill that no woman had ever given him in his life. And now, sitting in his chair and wearing his robe, it was Margot—this was true happiness.

He took several documents from a small safe in the closet and handed them to Margot. She took them with a smile, knowing that this was the end for Grisha. It was so satisfying to hold his fate in her hands.

She smiled at Artem again.

“Please tell me how it all happened. I couldn’t ask you about the details in prison.”

She took his hand and pulled it down.

Artem smirked and began to explain:

“My sister couldn’t refuse me. She also believed you weren’t involved in this. I gave her the documents she had to pass for signing. When I was in Grisha’s office, he told me about his new mistress. He was in a great mood. At that moment, my sister walked in. She brought a bunch of papers that he needed to sign. He felt relaxed after you went to prison. He wasn’t keeping a close eye on the business anymore. And that’s when he signed all those documents, without even reading them.”

Margot closed her eyes in pleasure. Now he would pay for his schemes. He would fully answer for what he did to her life. She would make him hurt.

She opened her eyes and looked at Artem. Fate had sent her this man. She had known him for many years, but she hadn’t suspected his feelings. Grisha’s love had clouded her judgment. Then came the pain after his betrayal. It was only after she was imprisoned that she was able to see the truth. And then she saw something in Artem’s eyes that made her feel an incredible excitement. He had helped her so much. He had betrayed his friend for the woman he loved, who hadn’t even promised him anything.

Margot leaned in towards Artem and embraced his neck, then whispered:

“I love you and want to be with you. When I finish everything, you’ll marry a former convict. I have no right to ask this of you.”

Artem cupped her face in his hands:

“How could I ever leave you? I’ve dreamed about this for years, and now you’re asking? But if you want to hear a proposal, here it is—will you marry me?”

Margot laughed.

“Yes, yes, yes.”

They kissed, and then what they had both been waiting for happened.

The next day, Margot, dressed in a beautiful suit, approached the tall building where the main office of the company was located. She wore high heels and felt confident. In her hands, she held a folder with copies of documents. She was ready to meet her ex-husband.

When she entered the office, a dead silence fell. No one stopped her. She opened the door to Grisha’s office, entered confidently, and closed the door behind her.

Grisha was sitting at the desk, talking to someone on the phone.

“Yes, of course, I’ll pick you up tonight, baby. You’ll tell me everything. I’ll call you.”

Grisha stopped mid-sentence when he saw Margot standing in the middle of the office. He turned pale, then silently put down the phone. Fear mixed with rage reflected on his face.

“What are you doing here, and why were you let in without permission?” he asked.

Margot smirked, then approached the desk. She sat in the chair, crossed her legs, and placed the folder with documents on her lap.

“Probably because I’m the mistress here too,” she replied. “Or maybe everyone knows you’re the real fraud here, not me.”

Grisha clenched his fists. His anger grew with each second.

“I don’t care what others think, especially you,” he said. “You’re no longer my wife, and here, you’re no one. I don’t want you here. Now that you’re out of prison, be a good girl and go on your way, and don’t get in my face again. Otherwise, I’ll lock you up again.”

Margot smiled, but her eyes were cold.

“You’re making a mistake by chasing me away,” she said. “I have a surprise for you, and you won’t like it.”

“Well, fine, I’ll put up with your rage because it’s justified. You hid me away while enjoying your women. Now it’s my turn, and you’ll learn what it’s like to suffer.”

Margot slowly opened the folder with the documents, took out several papers, and placed them on the desk in front of Grisha.

“Please, take a look at these documents,” she said. “I warn you, you can destroy them, they’re copies. The originals are with my lawyer, who will represent my interests in court. Whatever you do now, it will turn against you in the future, so I’ll tell you right now: touch me, and you’ll rot in prison for the rest of your life.”

Grisha furrowed his brow and took the documents. After studying them, he raised his eyebrows in surprise.

“Is this a joke?” he asked, looking at his ex-wife.

Margot leaned closer to the desk and whispered:

“You taught me two years ago that there’s no place for jokes in this life. I’m a good student, aren’t I?”

A few months later, Margot married Artem. She became the rightful owner of her company and took the mansion and expensive car from her ex-husband.

Grisha was left with nothing and disappeared from her life as if he had never existed. All the documents proved that he had voluntarily given up all property and the company in favor of Margot.

This time, Margot had won, and she celebrated with her new husband, who had helped her find herself again.
